Does anyone know any good alternative treatments for Multiple Sclerosis?
I have been on Copaxone for a while, and all it is doing lately is making me very sick. I have tried all sorts of other drug therapies since I was diagnosed 10 years ago (in my mid-twenties) and none of them seem to work that well.
I was thinking of discussing some alternative treatments with my doctor. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

Hi, i don’t have any alternative remedies although, i do have some good new for you, have you heard the latest MS news?
They think they might have found a cure for MS.
Ok so they were looking for a cure for cancer when then accidentally stumbled across something for MS.
They used this new treatment in which they call GIFT15 on mice for experimental research and the mice had MS, after being treated with one single dose of GIFT15 the MS in the mice completely reversed the MS in the mice an completely cured the disease! They say they think it will work the same way in humans but it wont be available for at least two years. Hows that for some good news!!!
There are unfortunately no alternative treatments that have been scientifically proven to work. Did you try Rebiff or Avonex? If you have aggressive relapsing-remitting MS, Tysabri might also be an option for you.
Some patients with MS find that some alternative treatments seem to be helping them, but definitely discuss the various treatments with your neurologist, as some can actually be harmful. As long as the disease modifying drugs seem to be working, I would strongly advice that you continue to take them, as on average they cut down the number of attacks to 1/3 and on top of that the attacks seem to be less severe.
I’ve been on Avonex for 6 years now and still get sick almost every single time after injecting, and yeah, I’m fed up with that, but on the other hand, I haven’t had an attack for years and I’m doing extremely well for someone who has had MS for 6 years. Both my neurologist believe this is because I started treatment early and kept up with it consistently, so the Avonex might very well be the reason that I’m living a near normal life. So for me, a sick day a week, seems to be the lesser of two evils.
